Broiled Maple Ginger Grapefruit with Dates

Why stick to plain grapefruit when you can have exotic broiled grapefruit with maple ginger and dates. The maple syrup combined with ginger put a lovely twist on this citrusy fruit. In this maple ginger grapefruit recipe, the sweet dates add naturally extra sweetness making the grapefruit unforgettable

Grapefruit is well known for its health benefits. The combinations of fiber, potassium, lycopene, choline and an excellent source of the strong antioxidant vitamin C in grapefruit help maintain a healthy heart. Grapefruit is also an excellent source of Vitamin A and is low in calories and may help with weight loss

Ingredients

  • 1 Ruby red grapefruit, halved, seeded and sectioned
  • 2 Tbsp. pure maple syrup
  • 1 Tbsp. minced fresh ginger (must be fresh)
  • 1 Tbsp. melted butter
  • ¼ tsp. GF ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp. GF coarsely ground black pepper
  • 2 medjool dates, pitted

    Instructions

  • Preheat your oven's broiler to high
  • In a small bowl mix maple syrup, ginger, cinnamon and black pepper
  • Place grapefruit halves facing up on a baking sheet lined with foil and brush with half the maple mixture. Insert dates in the center of the grapefruit and drizzle grapefruit with butter
  • Broil for 8 minutes or until the maple syrup starts to brown
  • Remove grapefruit from the oven and drizzle with remaining maple ginger syrup
