Helpful Tips for Gluten-Free Skillet Pizza Dip with Soft Rolls

Can I use store-bought gluten free rolls in this recipe?

You can use store-bought small rolls or gluten-free French baguettes sliced into appetizer-size pieces. If you are using store-bought rolls, skip the rolls recipe and continue with the dip and the bought rolls.

Can I make this pizza dip ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the pizza dip ahead of time. Cover and refrigerate it for up to 24 hours. When ready to use, bring the dip to room temperature and use it per recipe directions.

Can I make this recipe without the rolls?

Absolutely. Use a smaller baking dish and bake the dip until hot and bubbly. Serve with gluten free corn chips or garlic bread.

What are some optional toppings for the pizza dip?

You can customize the pizza dip with your favorite toppings, such as chopped red onions, sliced olives, diced bell peppers, pepperoni slices, jalapenos, thinly sliced mushrooms, halved cherry tomatoes, and crispy bacon bits.

How do you prevent the rolls from burning?

The rolls are first partially baked. Then add the pizza dip and continue baking. If the rolls start to brown too quickly, cover the skillet loosely with foil paper.

Can I use a different type of cheese for the dip?

Absolutely! While mozzarella cheese is commonly used in pizza dips, you can experiment with cheeses like cheddar, provolone, or a blend of your favorite good melting cheeses.

Is this dish suitable for a party or large gathering?

Yes, this recipe makes an excellent appetizer for parties and gatherings. You can easily double or triple the recipe and use a large baking dish to accommodate a larger crowd. You may have to adjust the baking time.

Can I make it dairy-free?

You can adapt the hot pizza dip to be dairy-free by using dairy-free cheese alternatives and dairy-free cream cheese. The gluten free rolls are already dairy-free.

How long does baking hot pizza dip with soft rolls take?

Baking time can vary, but it generally takes 30 – 35 minutes. The dip should be hot and bubbly, and the soft rolls should have a slightly golden top.

Do I have to use a skillet?

Skillets are typically made of cast iron or stainless steel, which distribute heat evenly across the surface. This ensures your dip bakes uniformly without hot spots, preventing overcooked or undercooked areas. More importantly, they are known for excellent heat retention, helping the dip stay warm longer. However, you can use a baking dish.

Is hot pizza dip child-friendly?

Kids LOVE the dip because of the pizza flavors and soft rolls. You can customize it with their favorite toppings to make it their favorite dish. Be sure to cool the dip slightly before serving it to children.

What’s the best way to store leftovers?

This dip is best when it comes out straight from the oven. However, if you have leftovers, cover the skillet with foil paper and store it in the refrigerator for up to two days. When ready, reheat it covered in the oven at 375 F until hot.

Can I freeze hot pizza dip with gluten free rolls leftovers?

I would not recommend it. This Italian dish is best served hot right after baking.

Once the dough is ready, which takes about 10 minutes to prepare, use a cookie scoop or an ice cream scoop to shape the rolls and place them around the edge of an oiled 10-inch skillet. Brush the tops with olive oil, cover with a damp kitchen towel, and let the rolls rise for one hour in a warm place.

STEP THREE

Par-bake the rolls for 15 minutes at 400 F.
