Gluten Free Crispy Onion Rings Without Frying

Everyone loves onion rings, wouldn’t it be nice to enjoy them without added fats from traditional frying of onion rings.  Now you can! Enjoy baked onion rings and their many health benefits. Serve with yogurt aioli dip, recipe included

Ingredients

  • 2 large red onions, sliced to 1/2-inch thickness and separated into rings
  • Egg whites of 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup + 1 tbsp. all purpose GF flour (depending how large your egg is, the batter should be runny
  • 1 tsp. GF celery salt or GF ground black pepper
  • Sea salt to taste
  • Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450 F
  • Whisk together egg, flour and celery salt/black pepper
  • Dip one onion ring at a time in the batter and evenly coat. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper
  • Bake for 10 minutes, then flip over and bake 5 more minutes. Season with salt just before serving
  • YOGURT AIOLI DIP; Mix ½ cup full fat plain Greek yogurt + 1 Tbsp. GF mustard + 2 minced garlic cloves and pinch of salt
