Grilled Halibut –Easy Recipe

Halibut is a firm white fish that contains very little oil. In this recipe, the mild flavour of halibut is infused with cilantro marinade and lemon thyme, keeping the fish moist and still keeping its delicate taste. This is a healthy super easy recipe to make

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) melted butter
  • Juice and zest of 1 fresh lemon
  • 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) fresh chopped cilantro
  • 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) GF dried lemon thyme
  • ¼ tsp. (1.25 mL) pure sea salt
  • ¼ tsp. (1.25 mL) GF ground black or white pepper
  • 16 oz. halibut fillet, approximately 1 ½-inch thick
  • 4 thin slices of lemon
  • Instructions

  • FOR THE MARINADE: In a small bowl, whisk olive oil, butter, lemon juice with zest, cilantro, lemon thyme, salt, and pepper. Set aside
  • Wash the halibut thoroughly under cold water and pat dry with paper towel. Generously brush both sides of the fish with marinade and rest for 10 minutes. Heat the grill to medium-high heat
  • Transfer halibut on double folded foil, top with lemon slices and place on the grill. Close the lid and grill for 12 minutes depending on the thickness of the halibut or until meat will flake with a fork. Don't overcook the halibut or it will become dry
