Just what we need this summer season, the Best Gluten-Free Turkey Burgers – These burgers are beyond good! Moist, packed with flavour and every bite is filled with deliciousness.

What makes a perfect gluten-free burger?

Lean meat, the right blend of spices and cooked to perfection. This is a solid turkey burger recipe, trust me! To keep the burger beautifully moist, I added chopped mushrooms and apple cider vinegar. For extra flavour, I used spices such as oregano and paprika. And because I am a garlic lover, I added a touch of minced garlic. As soon as you place the burger on the barbecue, you will smell the stunning aroma of these turkey burgers. I have also added sharp cheddar cheese and melted it covering the entire burger patty. The cheese is optional, but I strongly recommend it 🙂 I just can’t describe how good these burgers are!

What else does a burger need? First, a perfect gluten-free burger bun, and yes, we have that recipe for you as well. But then there are the toppings 🙂 The choices are limitless, and I will mention just a few. Tomatoes, lettuce, shredded cabbage, onions raw or fried, ketchup, mustard, mayo, avocado, fried mushrooms etc….You decide!

How do you stop turkey burgers sticking to the barbecue grill?

Don’t you find that when we use lean meats for burgers, especially turkey or chicken, they tend to stick to the barbecue grill, making a big mess! In our house, I am not the one that gets to clean the mess, but I do hear about it, how much work it is. So here is the tip. After you make the burger patties brush both sides with vegetable or melted coconut oil. Place them on a cookie sheet or pan lined with parchment paper and freeze them for 15 minutes before cooking. Once you place the patties on the grill, do not touch them until you are ready to flip them. That’s it, and your burgers will not stick to the grill.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. lean ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped mushrooms
  • 1 Tbsp. minced garlic
  • 1 tsp. dry oregano
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1 tsp. sea salt
  • 1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. melted coconut oil or grape seed oil, for brushing
  • 4 slices of hard cheese (optional)
  • Lettuce leaves or gluten-free burger buns
  • Optional toppings; onions, cabbage, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, gf mustard, gf mayo, gf ketchup
  • Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix all the ingredients except the oil. Make 4 burger patties and brush with oil. Place the patties on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze them for 15 minutes before cooking. This will prevent them from sticking to the barbecue grill
  • Barbecue method: Place patties on a preheated barbecue grill and cook 5 - 7 minutes per side (depending on the thickness of the patties. Add cheese and cook until melted
  • Oven method: Preheat oven to 400 F. Place patties on a non-stick baking sheet, and bake 10 - 15 minutes. Top with cheese and cook until cheese is melted
  • To serve, place burgers on lettuce leaves or grilled gluten free burger buns with as many toppings as you desire
