Gluten-Free Maple Breakfast Sausage

When following a gluten-free diet, buying prepared foods tend to be expensive, packed with salt, sweeteners and fillers. A breakfast sausage prepared from scratch is healthier and better tasting than the one you would buy in most supermarkets. The fresh herbs and maple syrup add smouldering flavours to this quick and easy to prepare gluten-free maple breakfast sausage. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. ground turkey or chicken
  • 1/2 lb. lean ground pork
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tsp. Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. Chopped fresh herbs such as; thyme, sage, parsley if using rosemary use only 1 tablespoons
  • 1 1/2 tsp. Pure sea salt
  • 1 tsp. GF black pepper
  • Coconut oil for cooking
  • Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a bowl except for coconut oil
  • Shape mixture into 16 about 3/4-inch thick patties
  • Heat 2 teaspoons of coconut oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add patties 4 at a time and cook 3 minutes per side. Do not overcook
  • Repeat until all patties are cooked. Add coconut oil as needed
  • Note: You can prepare the meat mixture night before, or freeze for future use
